For some many thousands of year's human-kind has been, for the most part, "out of balance" with life on earth.

Some say that we became out of balance when the Priestesses hired the Kings to form armies to conquer more territory so that the city and then city-states could grow and prosper.  Others say that the Kings became so powerful with their armies that they lost sight of the Goddess energy in all of creation.  Regardless of the beginnings, this imbalance happened as a consequence of the agricultural revolution and the increased population growth resulting from that evolution.  Of that we can be certain.

We became even more out of balance with western expansion and the doctrine of "manifest destiny."  That doctrine has it that "might makes right and to take is to have."  The practice is that the rule makers decide who can have and who cannot have.  Surely, as history has proven, a limited and unimaginative belief system.

In the wake of the above movements we have set out on a "trail of tears" that continues to have neighbor inflict damage to neighbor, race against race, culture against culture.

Some maintain that as we evolved and with our frontal brain and special nature of our opposing thumb's we could not but prevail over all of life on earth.

Will we destroy life on earth?

That depends on our willingness to courageously heal. . . ourselves, each other and the "wounds of our ancestors."

The trail of tears is one of inflicting such brutality on others that we corrupt our selves and our kind.  To heal is to do our necessary soul work.  To find our wounded soul parts and to reclaim them; making reparation where reparation is due.  To learn to no longer accept roles of persecutor and victim; instead to practice the fine art of co-creation of stewardship and guardianship, not just of humanity but of all of creation.

The imbalance and wounding has to do with our not taking on, as "civilization" the task of stewardship and husbanding of all of life, as have so many indigenous cultures of the present and the past. In order to take on that task we must gather the wisdom that comes with soul recovery and reparation of our misdeeds.  We must cultivate the stance of welcoming diversity of all kinds, with gratitude and respect.

Some would have it that if we have the power than we are the righteous.  If that could be true how can it be that so much of life on earth is destroyed as a consequence of the actions of the powerful?

The Healing Story is about healing our selves, our relationships our communities and our lands such that all of life on earth, in all of its diversity, can continue to unfold.  It is not so that human's can prevail . . . such is folly and can only lead to the ultimate burning of life on earth as we know it and as we know of it's declination due to our arrogance.

May we all embrace the healing story and contribute
to the righting of balance and harmony . . . once again.
